Slavery is still an issue today, even in the USA . The emancipation Proclamation officially ended slavery in the United States , however it still exists. Today’s Society is still divide on this issue, the united states was divide in free slavery states from the north and pro slavery states in the south. History repeats it self overtime.

Whether it is named human trafficking, bonded labor, forced labor, or sex trafficking, it is present worldwide, including in the United States and, increasingly, in your community. An estimated 12 to 27 million people are held in one or another form of slavery. Between 600,000 and 800,000 are trafficked globally, with as many as 17,500 people trafficked into the United States . Nearly three out of every four victims are women. Half of modern-day slaves are children. I choose chapter two Abolition: Turning America’s Conscience against the Sins of Slavery from) from the book; Mightier than the Sword: How the News Media have Shaped American History, because people are not really aware that slavery still exist in the USA .
